Thessaloniki is Greece’s second largest city in terms of population but it is The ALPHA city in terms of food, a UNESCO city of GASTRONOMY, no less.
Lits will lead you on the inside track into this rich culinary melting pot, famed for its multi-cultural cuisine, local specialities and wonderful wine(!).
Interwoven with the history of this former kingdom of Alexander the Great and his father King Philip II of Macedon and influenced by its’ encounters with the ancient Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires.
Set against a sunny seaside backdrop, surrounded by mountains of Gods (Mount Olympus), monuments and masterpieces – what better reason (excuse!) do we need to go…….?
Day One:
On arrival we will leave our bags at our centrally located 4* hotel and embark on our first tour exploring the local landmarks (and markets!) of the city with an expert guide sampling and spotting excellent eateries as we walk along!
Optional evening and dinner together.
Day Two

Another day and a guided walk with our local guide exploring sights and some breathtaking views of the city.

Day Three

We will head into the western hills to visit the royal tomb of King Philip II of Macedon and see the spectacular gold, ivory and bronze artefacts he was buried with and the ruins of the Royal Palace of Aigai from where Alexander the Great launched his famous conquest of the Persian Empire.
Next our private bus will take us into the countryside for visit and tasting at one winery to discover the unique wines of the region.
Evening and dinner together (included dinner).
